“Crested Butte Wildflower Workshop”

Life is an on-going adventure and we are always learning. Recently, I traveled to Crested Butte, Colorado, and participated in a Wildflower Photography Workshop. Crested Butte is known for its array of wildflowers during July and this is something that I have desired to do for a very long time. The instructors, Keith & Rebecca Snell, were terrific and they were able to get us into remote parts of the back country for a unique and majestic experience. “Color My World … “

These represent, to me, beautiful composition and true examples of the magnificent beauty and color all around us in our world. I hope that they inspire you to stop and look around your environment. If you notice something different today, the beauty of their inspiration will have achieved a unique aspect of soul purpose.

“The Subtle Colors of Lupine”

For this photograph, I used my 105 mm Macro Lens specifically designed for close-up photogrphy. I started out photographing several lupine and continued to fine tune the composition until I was left with this single lupine with the muted colors of the other lupine behind it. I was able to achieve the muted background by using manual controls and setting my camera at F2.8.

“A Beautiful Combination”

According to my instructor, Keith, this combination of Indian Paintbrush and Columbine is not usual. Therefore, I feel blessed to have witnessed this uniqueness. However, this combination and composition remind me of one of my inspirational verses that I wrote several years ago. “The colors of the earth blend together so harmoniously. The colors of humanity deserve the same respect and harmony.” The process of nature photography continues to be a natural source of inspiration for me to acknowledge and respect all life.

“Soul Essence”

I was hiking on a path with the beauty and abundance of wildflowers around me everywhere. Suddenly, my head spontaneously turned and my vision basked in the glory of this beautiful set of columbine. If was as if its energy, its soul essence spoke to me. I just knew that I had to photograph these columbine and I hope that I have captured the beauty of their “soul essence.” They are truly majestic to me.

“Change Your Position”

Whenever I am emotionally upset or out of balance, I try to remind myself to “change my position” to perceive the situation a little differently for resolution. However, it is a concept that I have learned from my photography adventures. In this instance, my instructor reminded me to look, think and perceive differently with this beautiful set of columbine. By doing so, I was able to view the essence of the flower differently and capture new dramatic and changing light. Nature photography, and my creative adventures, continue to be my greatest teachers.

“Mills Lake”

Yesterday I hiked to “Mills Lake” at Rocky Mountain National Park. It was a 6-mile hike around 10,000 feet elevation. The destination achieved was magnificent, pristine, glorious and inspirational. Upon viewing the above image, I hope that you agree.

“Dynamic Impact”

Clouds can add a dimension of dynamic impact, and spirituality, to any photograph. Notice clouds and have patience to wait for their perfect positioning in your composition. Good luck!

“Snowshoe Hare”

During my hike at Rocky Mountain National Park, I encountered a “Snowshoe Hare.” I did some research and found out the following from a National Geographic website: “Hares are a bit larger than rabbits, and they typically have taller hind legs and longer ears. Snowshoe hares have especially large, furry feet that help them to move atop snow in the winter. They also have a snow-white winter coat that turns brown when the snow melts each spring. It takes about ten weeks for the coat to completely change color… These animals are nimble and fast, which is fortunate, because they are a popular target for many predators.”

“Lightning Fast”

Here is the “Snowshoe Hare” in quick motion. It ran so fast that my camera barely had time to adjust. Also, although the result is very creative, I was moving my camera as this wonderful creature started to run. Notice the very long rear legs. This is the natural world of nature photography. Enjoy!
